MINIS AT AUSTIN CELTIC FESTIVAL
MINIS AND FRIENDS AT AUSTIN CELTIC FESTIVAL
Every November is the Celtic Festival so I dressed up Buckshot in his finest tam o'shanter (had to cut earholes in it) and put on the Sutherland tartan shirt of my anscestry and we loaded up and headed for Town Lake. It was a beautiful, sunny day.
Buckshot and his buddy Stardust met up with Sean Monet and Mastercard and a couple of other minis from the group. Buckshot likes to eat, like any horse, so he plunged his muzzle into the green grass of the river bottom while the grounds started to fill up with men in kilts (ah yes!) and tall Scottish deerhounds on leashes and visitors.
Such a colorful, diverse scene reminded me of why I love Austin, my place of birth. This cultural center of Texas still has the great folks who organize and turn out for these interesting events. There were good vendors and games and dance and music. The minis were very good, doing their emissary job peacefully and happily; they were a hit with everyone. We had a crowd all day long around them.
There were two autistic children who spent a lot of time hanging around the minis, leading them and trotting with them. They so enjoyed it and I could see they got a lot out of it -- they were laughing most of the time. The minis were gentle and understanding with them. Other than the fact that my stubborn Buckshot kept shaking his tam o'shanter off, it was just a great day.
